Ethans Pirate Hook

As promised, heres the pattern. It hasn't been tested, so please let me know if you find any errors! Hope you like it!!!!


Ethans Pirate Hook

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, small amounts gold and grey
Crochet Hook Size F – 3.75 mm

GAUGE: Gauge doesn’t really matter.
8 sc and 9 rows = 2”

FINISHED SIZE: Approx 13 ½ “ around and 8” long. The one I made fits my 3 year olds hand as well as my 5 year olds and my 12 year old(who has bigger hands than me!)

DIRECTIONS:

HAND PART
With gold, make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc into ring. Pull tight to close. (5 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc around. (10 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in nx st, 2 sc in nx st) around. (15 sc)
Rnd 4: (Sc in nx 2 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (20 sc)
Rnd 5: (Sc in nx 3 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (25 sc)
Rnd 6: (Sc in nx 4 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (30 sc)
Rnd 7: (Sc in nx 5 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (35 sc)
Rnd 8: (Sc in nx 6 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (40 sc)
Rnd 9 – 22: Sc around. Join at end of Rnd 22. (40 sc)
FO and weave in end.
**NOTE: If you want the handle part smaller or bigger, just add more or less increasing rows.

HOOK

Starting at tip, with grey, make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in ring. Pull tight to close. (4 sc)
Rnd 2 – 3: Sc around. (4 sc)
Rnd 4: (Sc in nx st, 2 sc in nx st) around. (6 sc)
Rnd 5: Dec twice, 2 sc in nx 2 sts. (6 sc)
Rnd 6: (Sc in nx 2 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (8 sc)
Rnd 7: Dec twice, 2 sc in nx st, sc in nx 2 sts, 2 sc in nx st. (8 sc)
Rnd 8: Sc around. (8 sc)
Rnd 9: Dec twice, 2 sc in nx st, sc in nx 2 sts, 2 sc in nx st. (8 sc)
Rnd 10 – 11: Sc around. (8 sc)
Rnd 12 – 14: Repeat Rnd 7. (8 sc)
Rnd 15: Sc around. (8 sc)
Rnd 16 – 18: Dec, 2 sc in nx st, sc in nx 2 sts, 2 sc in nx st, dec. (8 sc)
Rnd 19: Sc around. (8 sc)
Rnd 20: (Sc in nx 3 sts, 2 sc in nx st) around. (10 sc)
Rnd 21 – 23: Dec twice, 2 sc in nx 3 sts, sc in nx st, dec. (10 sc)
Rnd 24 – 25: Sc around. (10 sc)
Rnd 26 – 28: Repeat Rnd 21. (10 sc)
Rnd 29: Sc around. (10 sc)
Rnd 30 – 31: 2 sc in nx 3 sts, dec 3 times, sc in nx st. (10 sc)
Rnd 32: Sc around. Join. (10 sc)
FO, leaving a long end.
Sew to centre of hand part as shown in pic.

HANDLE

With gold, ch 16.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (15 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (15 sc)
Fold piece in half.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc across working through both loops of Row 2 AND the foundation row. (15 sc)
FO, leaving a long end.
Sew to inside of hand part on both sides at approx Rnd 10 – 11.

looks like fun! i'm also a stay at home mom of 4... but i have one boy and 3 girls... ages 16, 14, 4 and 3!! i also love crochet, and i started when i was pregnant with my son 16 years ago! only my 14 year old daughter will wear something i've made, the youngest 2 refure to put anything on their heads! lol! but i have a 3 year old nephew that i think will enjoy a pirate hook like that one!

We are going on a cruise that has a (very crowded )pirate night party and I have had to tell my son no to taking his hard plastic (potentially deadly in his hands or on it...) pirate hook..This may win back some points if I can figure this out! Thank you so much for sharing!
