darling pumpkin hat! Is it for children? would like to make for baby.
Sorry its taken me so long to reply. I didn't even realize that I didn't have a size on there!! Duh. It was made for my 18 mos old son, but its so stretchy that it also fit my 3 yo boys too. Hope that helps!
Very nice, I'm going to subscribe to your feeds so I can keep up with what you are doing, I like your blog and the things you do.
Cheers Cat.
I've just finished making the adorable Lil Pumpkin hat, and it is absolutely a perfect pattern. I've tried other pumpkin hat patterns, and this is the most realistic. Love it! Thanks, Melanie.
Kay
Thanks Kay. I'm so glad you finally got it working! Thanks for the comment!!
I just leared to crochet so i'm not good at reading the abbreviation. could you please verify what these means
- BLO in "unless otherwise stated, work entire piece in BLO"
- dec in "Ch1, sc dec aroung" - Stem.
I can't really picture how to start to work on the stem. Any way you can help.
The hat is so adorable that I don't want to pass it just because I can't read the pattern.
Please help.
Littlely
I am making your adorable pumpkin hat (sport yarn and smaller hook for a baby). I am working the rows, and looking ahead I see that once I sew the edges together there should be a small opening at top and a larger opening at the bottom. The way it is working up, the openings will be equal, I think, because the unworked 4 sc seems to alternate sides with each repeat of Rows 2-4. The only way one end would create a smaller hole is if the skipped 4 sc was always on the same side, I am thinking. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong. Thanks!
This pattern is awesome! I made a pumpkin hat of my own with your lovely pattern, but I used a larger hook so I could wear it. I posted the picture on deviantart.com if you would like to see it ma'am. Here is the link http://arianagentry.deviantart.com/art/Pumpkin-Hat-99384938
I went to C'ville and found that there was an error in the original pattern (which was of course the version I had)and you had reposted the new pattern on your blog. So I'm all set now!
Littlely,
BLO means back loop only.
dec means decrease. There are many tutorials online to help you understand how to decrease stitches if you need help.
This is the cutest hat. My son wants to be a pumpkin for Halloween and I would like to make him the hat. He is a 6 year old who is small for his size. His head circumference is 19 inches. I tend to crochet a bit bigger than most patterns, but I am worried it might still be too small. Would a bigger hook size make the hat bigger? I would be grateful for any advice.
Super cute. I will admit to not being a "proper" crocheter, as I was taught by my elderly grandmother when I was 12 and she never used any crochet terms. That being said, I don't understand crochet patterns so I just looked at your hat and kinda winged it. First attempt at a hat and it turned out perfectly! Thanks for the idea!
Super Cute Hat, I am a beginner crochet addict for my 5 mo old while on maternity leave. I added an extra line of double crochet at the bottom for a wider green brim, seemed to work well. Thanks for sharing. Also made some simple booties in orange and made a green top so she has booties to match!
OMG guys!! I didn't realize there were so many responses here. I'm so sorry for not replying sooner!!! Littlely, I am so sorry for not seeing your post. I saw the answers further down. From now on, if anyone has questions you can email me directly. My email is at the bottom of my patterns.
Another anon post, for hook size, yes a bigger hook will make it bigger, but because this is worked in back loop only, it is very stretchy! You can always add more rows too because its sewn at the side.
And Lacey-Bra, don't you just look super cute in your hat!! I love when I get to see pics of my patterns
Thanks guys and from now on I promise to pay closer attention!

I made it in two different sizes...one for a 2 yr. old and the other for a newborn.
Thanks so much!
They look great! Thanks for sharing with me!!
Amazing! So far the pattern is coming together really well. I saw how cute it was and now I am sneak-crocheting at my desk at work. LOL Thank you, thank you!!!
I have made this hat for about 6 kids now, raging in size from 6 months to 7 years old. Everyone loves them. It's super stretchy and by simply adding a few rows it will easily fit an adult. Thank you so much for posting this pattern!
I am so gald that so many people are making super cute hats from my pattern!! I love to see all your work and different interpretations. Thank YOU all!!!!
I made this for my little one...it turned out pretty big...I might have made loose stitches. He is 3 months old :)

It was certainly interesting for me to read that article. Thank author for it. I like such themes and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more soon.
Thanks so much for posting this pattern! Here's the link to my finished product: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150103714323402&set=a.36676528401.47548.617348401&theater
How many sts would i need to make a pumpkin hat for a one year old. i love this hat
It would still be the same amount of sts because the hat is worked side to side rather than top to bottom. If you just use a smaller hook, it should work fine. :)
i love this hat. it would make my daughter holoween costroom finishing tuches purifier. i was wondering if there is anything speshel i need to do to make it into a newborn hat.
I do have a pattern for a newborn pumpkin hat and mittens set in my etsy shop if your interested. Otherwise I would say just trial and error with hook size and yarn until it fits.
